THE BLURB
All her life, Laoise has longed for adventure and daydreamed her days away. But the time for dreaming is past. Deep in the bowels of the earth a dragon wakes and the fate of her people and the entire world now rests in Laoise’s hands. Can she and her guide, Bearach, complete their quest to the Underworld in time or will her first real adventure also be her last?
WHAT I THOUGHT
Straight up I will say this is not my usual genre to read. Next I will say if Nicki Markus publishes any future works I will not turn them away. Conclusion being I enjoyed Dragon’s Heart and delving into a not often visited genre.
At 33 pages it is a short one but in those 33 pages is a story which pulled me in. I almost read it in one sitting but had to make myself stop and take a breather. I personally like to let the words float around in my mind for a while instead of racing through and finding some of those words lost and forgotten. Having said that, it didn’t take me long to get back to reading and finishing this tale.
I followed Laoise as she courageously battled to save her world. I wished for some things to happen and I hoped other things wouldn’t happen. I don’t want to give too much away so won’t mention those wishes and hopes but I will say it was a good ride, over a little too quickly but definitely left me wanting more.
Many thanks to Nicki Markus for providing me with a copy of Dragon’s Heart – thanks, Nicki!
