R.I.P. Jose Saramago (via The Book Whisperer)

It is a sad day indeed. However, he did have a good innings and left behind some fabulous work. Blindness is right up there with one of the best books for me and I have a couple more of his to read on my shelves.

1922 – 2010 I am saddened to learn that Portugese author, Jose Saramago, has died aged 87. Saramago wrote the utterly brilliant Blindness (in my top 10 of all time) and won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1987.
