Whilst chatting with some very good friends recently I was searching for a quote to fit what we were talking about. I didn’t find it that day but I have found it now and it comes to us from Cyril Northcote Parkinson:
“Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”
Ah, how true this quote is. One example I used is if you need the housework done it 2 hours it will be done, if you give yourself the whole day to do it then it will take the whole day. It is amazing that this quote seems to come in to play so often. Too many times I have a list of things that need to be done and think I will work my way through them over the weekend only to find come Sunday lunchtime I haven’t marked anything off the list but I become Superwoman in the afternoon and it all disappears.
